Welcome to the Cub Scout Section.

Introduction to Cubs

‘The best part of Scouting is definitely the camps. I love every activity we do apart from swimming. They told us the pool was 24 degrees centigrade. Minus 24 more like!’

Scouting is one of the great success stories of the last 100 years. From an experimental camp for 20 boys on Brownsea island in 1907, it has spread to 216 contries and territories, with an estimated 28 million members.

Cubs is the second section of the Scouting movement, originally started in 1916 for younger brothers who wanted a 'look-in'. In nearly a century, the section has constantly evolved and adapted its programme and methods to meet the changing needs of each generation of young people, and these days admits girls as well as boys.

Cub Scout Pack Report – April 2009 to March 2010

The cub pack has had a successful year accomplishing more than 120 activity and challenge badges carrying out various tasks and challenges.  We have entered most of the district competitions at which we have held our own, whilst giving most of the pack a chance to enter.

Our numbers have increased over the year but have declined after sending 6 of the pack to scouts.

We have been on 2 successful camps one in the summer at Ashworth Valley and one during the winter at Blackhills in Bradford . We also held a sleepover at the headquarters which was enjoyed by all the cubs.  A few members of the pack had a day out during the summer to Camelot and we held our hiker badge around Sale Water Park .

Hopefully we will have as successful a year in 2010.
